What you will learn?
Are you already an experienced microblading or permanent-makeup artist but now want to achieve a regulated Level 4 qualification?
Practical experience is valuable, but it may not demonstrate the standardised theory, assessment and evidence required by a formal qualification.
This upgrade route builds on your existing experience through online study, supervised model assessments and focused academy attendance, without requiring you to repeat the complete beginner course.
VTCT Level 4 microblading upgrade for experienced artists
This shorter route is designed for practitioners who already have microblading or semi-permanent makeup training and practical experience, but now want to work towards the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Enhancing Eyebrows with Microblading Techniques.
If you have not trained in microblading before, choose the full beginner microblading course. The upgrade course does not teach the subject from the beginning.
What the qualification covers
The qualification assesses consultation, health and safety, eyebrow design, anatomy and physiology, safe microblading techniques, treatment planning and aftercare. The emphasis is on demonstrating Level 4 knowledge and consistent practical competence rather than repeating an entry-level course.
Models and assessment
You will need to arrange four suitable models for the practical sessions. Tutors will assess your consultation, planning, technique, client care and treatment records. We will explain model suitability and preparation before your attendance dates.
Insurance and council checks
Requirements are not identical across the UK. Before offering treatments, confirm the qualification evidence required by your insurer and by the council responsible for the premises where you intend to work.

Who is this course for?
Who should take the upgrade course?
This course is suitable for experienced microblading or PMU practitioners who have prior CPD, manufacturer or brand training and can provide evidence of practical experience.
Before enrolling
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You need a good standard of written and spoken English.
- You must already have relevant microblading or PMU training and experience.
- You must be able to arrange four suitable models for the practical sessions.
