How will I be assessed?
To achieve the VTCT Skills Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies for Skin Rejuvenation, you must successfully complete:
1. Summative external theory examinations
Externally set and marked multiple‑choice exams covering core units, including principles and ethics, consultation, dermatological science, microneedling and superficial peels.2. Short Answer Response (SAR) assignments
Externally set by VTCT Skills and internally marked at the academy. These written assignments test your deeper understanding of the supporting theory behind advanced aesthetic treatments.3. Summative practical observations
You will be observed performing skin needling and superficial peel treatments. Your assessor will mark your technique, hygiene, client care, communication and overall professionalism against VTCT’s Level 4 criteria.All components must be passed to gain the full qualification. Can I do Level 4 aesthetics if I only have beauty therapy experience?Yes. If you have a Level 3 beauty therapy qualification that includes anatomy and physiology, or a Level 3 Access to Aesthetic Therapies or equivalent, you can progress to a VTCT Level 4 aesthetics course in skin rejuvenation. It is also designed exactly for experienced beauty therapists who want to move into advanced aesthetic treatments.
Can I go straight to injectables training without Level 4 aesthetics?You can find courses that claim you can, but it is not recommended if you want a safe, insurable and future‑proof route. A regulated Level 4 in aesthetics shows that you understand advanced skin, consultation and safety before you move anywhere near injectables. Most serious Level 7 providers now expect this foundation.
Is Level 4 aesthetics enough to start a career in aesthetics without being a nurse or doctor?Yes. Missing 5th star as school definitely needs new space as school is very outdated, not very well kept, crowded with items, often missing such simple things as hand soap etc. Having said that, if I would choose to continue my learning, I would go for Ray Cochrane again.
