The VTCT NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course is the ultimate starting point for aspiring beauty professionals. Accredited by OFQUAL and recognised throughout the beauty industry, this long-standing qualification equips you with the skills and knowledge to launch your career in beauty therapy.
This beauty therapy training course is taught at our sister school, The London School of Beauty, another popular and long-running beauty school in the heart of London. Location: 18-19 Long Lane, First floor, London EC1A 9PL. The structure and standards of the course at LSB will remain the same as if you were at Ray Cochrane.
Our fast-track course is designed for those who want to complete their training quickly and efficiently—a 22-week schedule (1 set day per week), blending theory with practical training and assessments.
The comprehensive curriculum of our Level 2 Beauty Therapy training provides a strong foundation for essential beauty treatments and salon management.
Key areas of study:
Facial Treatments and Massage – Perform professional facials and relaxing massages.
Lash and Brow Services – Learn eyelash lifting, tinting, perming, and eyebrow shaping.
Nail Care – Master manicures and pedicures.
Waxing Techniques – Gain confidence in warm and hot waxing procedures.
Salon Management Skills – Maintain a safe environment, perform client consultations, and handle reception duties.
Product Sales – Build expertise in promoting and selling beauty products to clients following treatments.
Once completed, graduates can work as qualified junior beauty therapists in salons, spas, hotels, or independently. They can also use the qualification to progress to advanced training, such as our Level 3 Beauty Therapy course, for further career development.
To obtain NVQ/VRQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma, you will need to complete the following units:

FAQs
Is VTCT equivalent to NVQ?
**NVQ** – NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualifications. This is the general name given to the courses in the UK. It is important to understand this is not just a certificate for knowledge but also for your skills.
**VTCT** – Vocational Training Charitable Trust – this is the assessment organisation that will ultimately award the certificate for your diploma in beauty therapy.
Our NVQ courses are awarded by VTCT. This is why you may see the two acronyms used at the same time.
What can I do after a Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course?On successful completion of our Level 2 courses, you could progress to a higher level course, such as Level 3, an apprenticeship or other employment.
Will my NVQ/VTCT beauty or aesthetics qualification expire?You do not need to renew an NVQ as they don’t expire.
How will you be assessed?For each unit of the level 2 beauty therapy course, you will perform practical skills, submit coursework and sit for tests.
Assessment will be continuous throughout the duration of your course. The beauty training consists of practical assessments, oral questions, theory tests, and assignments. At the end of the course, you must provide evidence to determine whether you have reached the required level of competence.
Written assessment papers will give further evidence of your knowledge and understanding of the subject. The collation of the assessments will be contained in a portfolio which will contain all document feedback sheets, including all written work.
